New York City

For some odd reason my blog is most found by Google on the search term ‘New York’. Although I haven’t written that mutch about New York. 1,5 Year ago I shared with my readers that I was of to New York for a couple of weeks. After that I’ve written about the ugliest building in Manhattan the Verizon building, that the Virgin store had left Times Square and about Jay-Z’s book Decode.
(The nr. 2 search term was Michael Jackson, nr.3 MacCafé, nr.4 CocaCola and nr.5 #wearethedestroyers)

So I figured I have to reward the people searching for New York who end up on inspirationspam.com, with some awesome (never seen before) New York footage.

And I’m sure I will show up even more in a New York search now, since I’ve used New York 15 times in this post, as tags and in the SEO (in the background) ;-)

Launching campaign Jay-Z bio ‘Decoded’

Jay-Z has launched his autobiography and as you could expect from a somewhat megalomanic hip hop entrepreneur it went BIG. An extraordinary and never seen before launching campaign turning the marketing for a book in to an interactive event and even a hunt for pages of the book, placed in situations and place where they fit the content.

Google TV

Wednesday I was at the Marcom event in Amsterdam and was introduced to Google TV. After the presentation I asked myself; will Google TV do to the TV industry, what Apple did to the music industry with introduction of iTunes? I think they just might. What do you think?

Avro logo 10th anniversary

OK. I usually don’t promote my own work on my blog. And this blog wasn’t indented to look back… but hey, you’ve got to make an exception every now and than. There’s a special reason for that, because this month it’s been 10 years that the logo of Dutch broadcaster AVRO was introduced on TV. Enjoy the show.

iPhone App Wall

Geïnspireerd op de Matrix, laat Apple, op cinema display’s, tijdens de WWDC (Developers conference) in San Francisco zien, hoeveel App’s er inmiddels beschikbaar zijn voor de iPhone. Niet realtime, niet volledig interactief, maar wel een indrukwekkende manier van presenteren. Inmiddels zijn er meer dan 50.000 apps beschikbaar.

Playing For Change…

… Peace Trough Music. Mark Johnson en Jonathan Walls hebben de afgelopen 3 jaar over de wereld gereisd met een camera en een mobile geluidsstudio op zoek naar muzikale inspiratie. Onderweg ontdekte zij de verbindende kracht van muziek. Uiteindelijk leidde dit tot de documentaire Playing For Change, Peace Trough Music en een stichting die de wereld wil samenbrengen door muziek en hulpmiddellen daarvoor wil leveren aan muziekanten. Het leidde ook tot deze videoclip waar muziekanten van over de hele wereld, die elkaar nog nooit ontmoet hebben, samen ‘stand by me’ uitvoeren.
Inmiddels is Playing For Change ook aangesloten bij (RED) WIRE, een online music magazine dat je muziek laat ontdekken en tegelijkertijd voor medicijnen tegen HIV in Afrika zorgt.
Muziek als (positief) communicatiemiddel. LinkedIn door muziek. Of hiermee de wereld verenigd wordt en het vrede op aarde gaat brengen betwijfel ik, maar ik wordt wel helemaal blij van deze clip. Het verenigd in ieder geval wel muziekanten met elkaar. Spread the music! zou ik zeggen.

Een aantal jaar gelden maakte Saatchi & Saatchi (Nederland) een commercial voor Dance4Life, waarin een vergelijkbare gedachte gecommuniceerd wordt. Met de muziek van Tiësto en Maxi Jazz als basis. Wordt ik ook al zo blij van ;-)

2019 volgens Microsoft

Microsoft is gaan samenwerken met techneuten, gebruikers en consumenten om met een visie te komen over hoe wij technologie over 10 jaar gaan gebruiken.
Het toverwoord lijkt ‘emerging’; digitale middelen (telefoons en computers lijken ineens zo’n verouderd begrippen) vloeien in elkaar over. Zowel in hoe als in waar je het gebruikt.
Mooi gemaakte film en waarschijnlijk ook mooier dan de werkelijkheid gaat worden straks. Opvallend is ook dat er vooral veel Apple-achtig gedrag in de user interface zit en Microsoft heeft goed gekeken naar het morphconcept van Nokia en Cambridge. Ook opvallend veel Minority Report-achtige gadgets trouwens (uit 2002).
Als we deze dingen bij elkaar leggen ontstaat er kenlijk een sterke behoefte bij gebruikers naar vooral user interfaces op menselijk formaat; helder, duidelijk, toegankelijk, logisch in gedrag, stuurbaar. Zonder daarvoor eerst een user-bible te hoeven lezen. Alleen jammer dat zoveel door de Microsoft besturingssystemen aangestuurde divises van nature helemaal nog niet zo gebruikersvriendelijk en toegankelijk zijn. Ik hoop voor ze dat ze dat over 10 jaar wel gaat lukken.

Mediaruimte

Ruimte is media. Ruim een jaar geleden vond er op Grand Central Station in New York een ‘crowd freez’ plaats. (Ook wel flashmob genoemd) 207 ‘under cover agents’ zaten in het complot en het idee was om op een exact afgesproken tijd te bevriezen. Dat heeft natuurlijk een heel surrealistisch en vervreemdend effect op de voorbijgangers. (YouTube staat trouwens vol met dit soort filmpjes). De eerste Flashmob vond overigens plaats in 2003

 

T-Mobile heeft dat idee opgepikt en zich gerealiseerd dat een (station) ruimte net zo goed als media gezien kan worden. En er vervolgens z’n eigen variant van gemaakt, door een ‘crowd’ juist te laten dansen i.p.v . te bevriezen. (je wordt overigns helemaal blij van dit filmpje ;-)

 

En nu komt Sony Vaio met een vergelijkbare actie. Wederom het in Grand Central Station in New York, waar mannequins voor een vergelijkbaar effect zorgen. (let ff op de reactie van een voorbijganger: “We don’t have this in Amsterdam” :-) (maar wel in Utrecht)
