Fashionable packaging design #7

Bottled water brand Evian collaborated again with a fashion industry icon in creating their special edition bottle. In the past they’ve worked with Christian Lacroix, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and Paul Smith. This year it’s with Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake. The handwriting, the pleating, what Issey Miyake is famous for, can be reconized in the flowers on the bottle. A pure bottle, blooming with both optimism and freshness, as they claim.

The bottle will exist in 2 versions, one of them will be sold exclusively in the Issey Miyake shopsbe. Check for more details the Issey Miyake – Evian website.

The future of the book

IDEO has created three innovative visions of the book of the future, all of which exist, predictably, on some sort of iPad-like tablet.
The idea’s should’ve come (out of the box) with a build in time extender. Because I wouldn’t know where to get that. All the concepts have something additional. And additional = extra time
Although the first concept ‘Nelson’ seems the save you time by finding out if you’re beeing adequately informed by checking sources for you, so you won’t have to do it yourself. But if you have to read all these sources, discussions and links…
Still, I really like the concepts.

See this and more video’s of IDEO projects here.

YouTube Play

Knock your self out! Announcing the shortlist of 125 of the most creative and remarkable online video’s selected out of 23.3000 submitted entry’s. YouTube Play is collaboration of YouTube and the Guggenheim museum. They organize the first Biennial that shows the most remarkable online video’s. Check out the shortlist at www.youtube.com/play. Make sure to watch the trailer. And, of course, as with every jury and competition the choices made can be discussed. I’m also missing some sort of  categorization.

Inspirationsnack #36

They did it again. More famous for their video’s than their music (do they sell their music?). Brilliant new OK GO video.

French heraldry

French artist JULES JULIEN created 150 poster with one theme: “All those who imagine they are French, are making a mistake.” – Michel Colucci.
The way I see it is that this is a complaint to the populist politicians, with growing popularity in Europe, who share a xenophobic view of the world. And it’s telling us that it’s an illusion to think that we’re 100% Frensh, or Dutch, for that matter.
The posters are nice serie of iconic designs, a modern translation of traditional heraldry. Love it.

Electrical car rally

The Professional Passionates foundation is initiating a rally for electrical cars in 2011. And I was fortunate enough to be asked to make the introduction clip.
Tomorrow (sept. 16th) the film will premier at the “CleanDrinks Mobiliteit” event.
Enjoy the show!

Hostile Video takeovers

Nice examples of clips that mess around with YouTube and Vimeo interface or even completely take over the website.

1. Lets start with the latest one, the new musicvideo of Perquisite, where the play around with the Google ads bar in the video.

2. A hilarious viral of Tipp-Ex. For the full effect, you should visit YouTube yourself.

3. Tostitos uses a complete viedeo takeover on Vimeo. Check this video here.

4. And old one (2008) from Nintendo, promoting Wario Land: Shake it!

The (possible) future of screens technology

Always fun to look ahead and see what the future might bring us. And this is just what might happen in screens technology by 2014.

This is the result of TAT’s Open Innovation experiment. It is an experience video showing the future of screen technology with stretchable screens, transparent screens and e-ink displays, to name a few.

Simple & beautiful but with wrong logo

My God, this is such an iconic, beautifully simple and strong packaging concept for Panasonic Note. I’d buy it, just for the look of it.
Only… the thing is… I’m looking at an Apple product where they accidentally put on Panasonic logo.

The wilderness downtown

The wilderness downtown is an online collaboration project of the band Arcade Fire and Google, launched last monday. It’s a Google Chrome experiment and is a new step in music ‘video’. It’s a music videos for the web, rather than for television. The project uses the web browser itself as an artistic medium for interaction and multi-paned viewing rather than just using the browser as a frame for a plain, television-style video.
At the start you give the location you’ve spend your childhood and the video uses Googlemaps streetview with that location to let the story evolve in this area. Half way you’re asked to send a message to younger self. The project is build with HTML 5 technology.

The streets you see in my personal clip are in San José California, where I lived when I was 16/17 years old.
